Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Set to Open in July 2026

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, designed by Snøhetta and scheduled to open in July 2026, is a landmark cultural project set within the dramatic landscape of North Dakota’s Badlands. Conceived as an extension of the surrounding terrain, the building is defined by its sweeping vegetated roof, which rises from the butte and provides publicly accessible views across the Little Missouri River valley. Large glazed openings are integrated within a palette of natural materials, while the architecture is embedded into the topography to minimise its visual impact and strengthen the connection between the building, landscape and visitor experience. The project is targeting the Living Building Challenge, reflecting its ambitious environmental and sustainability objectives.
