New Tennessee Performing Arts Center Unveiled in Nashville

The design for the new Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville has recently been unveiled, marking a significant cultural investment for the city’s East Bank district. Led by Bjarke Ingels Group in collaboration with William Rawn Associates and HASTINGS Architecture, the 307,000-square-foot development is conceived as a new civic landmark that strengthens connections between downtown and the riverfront. The project is defined by its highly expressive façade, composed of undulating aluminum elements that shift in density and orientation to modulate light, frame views, and create a porous, welcoming ground plane. Lifting at key points to form entrances and canopies, the façade establishes a dynamic interface between the public realm and the interior, reinforcing the building’s role as both a performance venue and an open, accessible urban connector.
