Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Opens to the Public

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, designed by Snøhetta in collaboration with JLG Architects, is now open to the public. The 96,000-square-foot facility is embedded within the Badlands landscape, with a low-profile form, mass timber structure, rammed earth walls, and an accessible vegetated roof that extends the surrounding terrain across the building. Designed to meet the Living Building Challenge, the project incorporates high-performance enclosure systems, passive environmental strategies, and durable natural materials to support long-term energy efficiency and resilience. Our team collaborated with the design team to develop the building envelope in support of the project’s performance, constructability, and architectural objectives.
