Vero Beach Museum
The Vero Beach Museum of Art Expansion and Renovation marks the most significant improvement in the institution’s 40-year history. The project substantially increases exhibition, educational, and community facilities, repositioning the museum as a prominent cultural destination within Riverside Park. Building on the museum’s collection, which primarily focuses on American Modernism and global Contemporary Art, the expansion introduces new galleries, specialized studio space, and a café. The design responds to the museum’s coastal setting through terraces, courtyards, and walled gardens that enrich the visitor experience.
Linking architecture and landscape, the design connects interior and exterior spaces through a sequence of interconnected volumes, gardens, terraces, and courtyards. The two-story, 90,000 sq ft project doubles the museum’s exhibition space and expands facilities for educational programs, complemented by a flexible auditorium and community room. The building’s concrete facade employs a mix, incorporating regional materials with a color palette that reflects the surrounding environment.
Front is consulting on the project from schematic design through construction administration with a scope that encompasses the design and selection of impact rated glazing and opaque wall assemblies, including curtainwalls, frameless storefronts, entrance doors, metal panel cladding and adhered tile cladding. Additionally, Front is assisting with the design of custom metal screens used throughout to enclose courtyard spaces and provide privacy for the office spaces.
