Square 696 is a new riverfront retail/residential project located in Washington D.C.’s Capitol Riverfront District. The unique H-shaped design by Handel Architects opens up the space on the structure by creating terraces and courtyard spaces, as well as multiple access point to engage the public on the ground level.
Front served as a Facade Consultant on this project, assisting with the Street facing façade modules, which feature a cementitious frame, spanning two floors at 10’ wide by 19’ tall, with a recessed glazed system and spandrel panel. Additonally the courtyard’s carved façade is characterized by 6’ wide unitized curtain wall with vertical extruded aluminum fins.
