The recently completed Braniff Building renovation features a partial re-cladding of a National Register of Historic Places property, originally designed by Solomon Layton and completed in 1923. The renovated building is part of the larger SandRidge Energy Campus plan, which is currently under development on two blocks of land in downtown Oklahoma City. The historic façade is maintained at the street-facing elevations, while the interior-campus-facing facades are new. The building provides lobby and retail space at the ground level and 8 levels of offices above. The new façade includes an aluminum framed insulating glass storefront system at the ground level and a unitized insulating glass curtain wall, offset outboard of the historic structure, at the upper levels. The curtain wall glass features an opacifying silk-screen linear ceramic frit pattern, with clear rectangular vision glass zones at regular intervals throughout the façade, reminiscent of the historic punched window pattern. Front collaborated on the design for all new enclosure systems from schematic design through construction administration and completed energy modeling to ensure optimal performance and integration with the existing building.
