CODA – Georgia Tech High Performance Computing Center School for Computational Science and Engineering
Envisioned as a core for collaboration and innovation, Georgia Institute of Technology High Performance Computing Center (CODA) is a 750,000 ft2 (69,680 sqm) mixed use complex in Midtown Atlanta. The space designed by John Portman & Associates (JPA) serves as a modern collegiate building housing education and research spaces, offices, retail, data center, and open-air gathering space that blends CODA with the urban context.
CODA is designed as an assemblage of two towers and the connecting “Lantern” between them. The enclosure uses a combination of unitized and stick-built curtain wall systems and incorporates reflective glazing to visually break the volumes. Front collaborated with JPA from Schematic Design through Construction Administration to help realize the modern glass facade. To inform and optimize the design and procurement, Front deployed technical analysis, material research, bid-assistance and comprehensive cost review. Building Information Models were built to quickly review iterative design options, manage systems data including takeoffs used for estimating, visualize project conditions and coordinate with project team
