The two street-facing façades of this new condominium building, in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, are composed of a series of reflective folded vertical bands that simultaneously mirror both the street and the sky in a fragmented manner. The optical variability is enhanced by the use of 2 different glass types and the overall effect is a collage of reflections. The 8-story building includes 24 units, which total approximately 53,820 ft² (5,000 m²). Front collaborated on the façade beginning in schematic design and completed construction documents and shop drawing phases. During design, the folded façade was rationalized, for ease-of-construction, into a unitized floor-to-floor curtain wall. Each mega-panel was shop-fabricated and glazed, including integrated operable window units.
