SUNY Fredonia Rockefeller Arts Center / 2017
Architect Deborah Berke Partners
The 60,000 ft2 (5600 m2) addition to I.M. Pei’s 1969 Rockefeller Arts Center at SUNY Fredonia adds a new entrance and performance spaces, as well as studios, shops, and classrooms. The facade is modulated by vertical fins which extend 14 in (35 cm) proud of the glass curtain wall, casting deep shadows. Natural zinc composite panels are used for the fins and the surrounding rain screen cladding.
Front was involved from design development through construction administration, particularly with the detailing and technical design of the glass and zinc systems.
