The Lewis Center for the Arts includes a theatre and dance building, an arts building, and a music building with instrumental rehearsal and practice rooms. All three buildings are integrated in a forum below ground. The project aims to create a new campus gateway; shaping campus space while maximizing porosity and movement from all sides. The façade includes a unique combination of glass and steel construction with limestone cladding. The music building boasts a pre-tensioned cable and glass façade system for maximum transparency into the hang glass boxes of the interior space. Large insulated glass skylights filled with water are integrated to provide natural light into the forum space while creating a unique water feature. The project totals 130,000 ft2 (12,000 m2).
