OXMAN Studio
OXMAN Studio, founded by Neri Oxman, is a 36,000 sq ft, two-story space in Midtown Manhattan that integrates studio, production workshop, and laboratory functions. Designed to be highly adaptable and flexible, the space supports a multi-disciplinary, research-based practice combining architecture, design, biology, and technology. Its open floor plan, with glass wall divisions, encourages collaboration among designers, scientists, architects, and other staff members. The space is organized around a central atrium featuring a floating metal and glass staircase. Each of the two levels has its own distinct character and function. The lower floor houses design offices, a library, a reception area, and a kitchen, while the upper floor includes a Biosafety Level 2 wet lab and a production studio that includes a robotics lab.
Front collaborated on all aspects of the interior glazing systems, and contributed details, structural analysis, thermal analysis, and specifications for the high-performance capsule glazing, custom feature stair glass guardrails, office and vitrine acoustic glass partitions, meeting room and robotics lab glazing, the oversize glass doors, and the BSL-2 laboratory glazing. Front consulted on the project from design development through construction administration.
