Longwood Gardens West Conservatory

Kennett Square, PA, USA
Architect
Weiss Manfredi

Longwood Gardens has a rich history tracing back to the 1700s, and has become one of the most magnificent gardens and horticultural institutions in the United States. As part of an effort to expand the garden’s central grounds and enhance the overall visitor experience, a new conservatory encloses an additional 32,000 sq ft of gardens and displays, serving as the focal point of an integrated visitor journey.

Front collaborated with the design team from schematic design through construction administration to provide a full range of façade consulting and design services, including system design, specifications, and BIM modeling. In addition, Front conducted thorough analysis to optimize the glazing performance, taking into account visitor experience, as well as the lighting and temperature requirements to nurture plant life.

The conservatory’s three year expansion and new garden experience was commemorated with Longwood Reimagined.
