This re-cladding and interior renovation of an existing, approximately 4,000 ft² (370 m²) synagogue sanctuary in White Plains New York, features a new 26 ft (7.9 m) tall insulated glass curtain wall. The curtain wall glazing is set inboard of the existing limestone fins at most locations and outboard of the fins at two symmetrical glass bump-outs. The new enclosure allows daylight to flood the sanctuary, and replaces a series of small dated windows. Front collaborated with Levin Brown Architects on the curtain wall design and facilitated the materials supply and construction for design-build. This required the comprehensive system design to be fully resolved to a high level of detail, and the completion of structural calculations, shop drawings and fabrication drawings. Additionally, Front completed a whole building energy model to analyze the integrated performance of new and historic façade systems.
