The Tianjin Juilliard School, designed by DSR, in collaboration with East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, includes 32,500 m2 / 350,000 sf of space for performance, practice, research, exhibitions, and communal interaction, welcoming the public into an esteemed institution for music performance. The building is composed of four faceted pavilions interlaced with glass bridges and features a 690-seat concert hall, a 299-seat recital hall, and a 225-seat black box theater. The complex is clad in glass, inviting both casual and structured exchange between students, faculty and visitors. Further, the design encourages a high degree of connectivity and collaboration between students and faculty at Tianjin Juilliard School and The Juilliard School in New York.

Front’s responsibilities for the project included façade system design and detail development incorporating structural, environmental, and geometry optimization analyses for different façade systems, material research informed by in-depth industry feedback, and construction administration, including material, fabrication and installation quality reviews.
