The design for this residence and art gallery in Pennsylvania, re-conceptualizes the vernacular structural steel portal frame, commonly used in warehouse construction. The gallery space is defined by consecutive steel portal frames, which are non-uniformly morphed to create an undulating overall building form. Front’s scope of work on this project included providing technical consulting and construction management support for design, fabrication and supply of the primary steel frames and steel mullions. Front arranged for the primary steel to be fabricated and completely trial-installed off-site, ensuring an accurate fit of all components.
