This main family house is set among supporting buildings and a guesthouse at this upstate New York retreat. The design is intended to emphasize both privacy and a relationship between interior and exterior. The glass walls use a combination of sliding and fixed insulated glass units (both rectangular and trapezoidal. Custom load-bearing double-laminated skylights are used at the patio terrace and incorporate an anti-slip frit pattern. The design also features sliding wood screens that provide both shading and privacy. The louver density varies throughout the screen panels, creating openings for framed views from the interior.
