Battery Park City Community Center
New York, Ny, USA
Architect
Hanrahan Meyers Architects
Also known as the Digital Water i-Pavilion, this new 55,000 ft2 (5,110 m2) community center includes a pool, gymnasium, theater, classrooms and recreation spaces. The predominant design feature is a 550 ft (168 m) long fritted glass arcade wall, which gradually curves around the ball-field area. Front consulted on the custom glass wall during schematic design. The glass displays a custom pattern, resembling falling water, which can be read as a bar-code, allowing visitors to play pre-composed music by scanning the wall with their phones.
