PS122 Community Center
This community arts center, designed by TenBerke, provides 52,000 ft2 (4,830 m2) of flexible space to accommodate arts groups and a community service organization. The project includes the renovation of an existing historic public high school and a new addition. The facade concept utilizes perforated metal screens, to create a dynamic interaction of depth, shadow and texture, with a conventional insulation and waterproofing system behind the screens. The system uses ordinary construction materials and methods, resulting in a cost-effective facade, which is also high-performing.
Front collaborated with the architect on the facade design and developed system details for the perforated metal panel brise soleil, glass and steel canopies, and another cladding system for the side of the building featuring corrugated painted metal panels. Front consulted on the project from the construction documents phase to contract administration.
