Opening Soon: New Museum Expansion

We’re excited to share that the New Museum in New York is set to reopen on March 21, 2026 following a major expansion that nearly doubles the institution’s gallery space and enhances circulation, public amenities, and visitor experience. Designed by OMA / Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas, in collaboration with Cooper Robertson, the expanded building seamlessly complements the original SANAA structure and introduces new public spaces, artist studios, and cultural facilities. The reopening will be marked by the ambitious exhibition New Humans: Memories of the Future and free admission during the opening weekend, inviting the public to explore contemporary art and the museum’s renewed architectural presence on the Bowery.
